At the Southest door of Tuscany there is a place, our place, made for remind you that once you have left Tuscany, there isn’t a region as fascinating as ours in your trip. We live in a jewel.

Do you know the italian saying  “an apple never falls far from the tree?” (It means that a children usually is similar to his parents).

For me Monte Argentario is just that, the mirror of what surrounds it; the concrete reflection of a territory whose natural and scenic beauty and historical and cultural power are undeniable.

Where are we?

It is considered, the eighth island of the Natural Park of the Tuscan Archipelago.

It is in fact in front of the Island of Giglio, in front of the Island of Giannutri and not far from the Island of Montecristo and has nothing to envy to these protected areas.

From Porto Santo Stefano, you can start with mini-cruises and visit these islands, but we will have the opportunity to deepen this activity.

Not far from the Tombolo della Giannella, you will reach the Orbetello Lagoon Nature Reserve, included in the WWF oasis to protect the most important Tyrrhenian lagoon. Another WWF Oasis, Lake of Burano, is instead to the south, towards Capalbio. I advise you to visit both.

Going to the north, first you’ll find the village of Talamone,and then, about 40 km from Monte Argentario, here is the Maremma Natural Park, an uncontaminated territory, where the presence of man has been inseparably linked to the surrounding nature. You can see deer, foxes, horses, wild boars and the Maremma cow and you can see the work of the Butteri, a UNESCO heritage, the so-called “cowboys of the Maremma”, (but you do not call them that or they will feel offended).

In addition, 60 km to the east instead, you find one of the most important spas in Italy, the Terme di Saturnia and continuing over a few kilometers, let be be surprised by Pitigliano, Sorano and Sovana, the cities climbing the tufa and built overhanging the valley. Around them the Vie Cave, beautiful roads excavated in the tuff dating back to the Etruscan era.

That’s why I’m talking about an apple that has not fallen far from the tree.
